Royse City DI Teams at State Competition
Royse City ISD Destination Imagination teams wowed the appraisers at their state competition on April 12th. Five of the seven teams that performed at state competition will move on to the Global Finals in Knoxville, Tennessee. Their DI journey began last October and will culminate the week of May 21st – May 24th.
Moving on to Nationals are two community service teams “Flying with Fluffy” and “the Thoughtful Thinking Things” from Royse City High School and Cherry Intermediate; the technical team from Royse City Middle School “the SuperStar Bulldogs”, a structure team from Herndon “The OK’S” and “The Nerds” a scientific team from Fort Elementary.
The DI purpose is to inspire and equip students to become the next generation of innovators and leaders. Annually, they offer seven new standards-based Challenges in STEM, Improv, Visual Arts, Service Learning, and Early Learning. Each Challenge is open-ended and enables student teams to learn and experience the creative process from imagination to innovation. Academic tournaments take place around the world where teams have the opportunity to present their solutions to trained appraisers. Students have fun and gain confidence in their ability to solve any challenge. In working to solve our Challenges, teams learn 21st century skills (creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, communication, citizenship and courage) to build on their unique strengths.
