Fasten your seatbelts and rev your engines for Preston Center Rotary Club’s Grand Prix Go-Kart Race! The race takes place Saturday, May 23, at Dallas Karting Complex, the largest go-kart track in Texas. Teams pit against each other on an outdoor track with Go-Karts exceeding 55 mph. The top drivers will use Elite Karts topping 85 mph to compete in the RACE OF CHAMPIONS for the title of Fastest Driver of 2015. Individuals and businesses sponsor teams of five to race. A children’s division will allow kids to take a safe spin around the track at much lower speeds. The competition will be stiff, with race teams zooming for a title.

Children from Voice of Hope attend the event each year and are sponsored to take a turn in the karts and experience driving on the racetrack.  The cost to sponsor each child is $200 and is a great opportunity for those who would like to participate in the high-speed fun but don’t want to drive a go-kart themselves.  The young drivers are given amateur vehicles designed for less-experienced racers.

Individual racing tickets for adults are $250.  For those who want to put together a racing team to compete, there are two levels.  For amateur teams of five people who don’t have a lot of racing experience, the team cost is $1,000.  The next team level fee is $1,250 for five people who have some kart or car racing experience and will race karts that have a little more power.  Each team level will compete against each other.

The Grand Prix Go-Kart Race raises funds for Voice of Hope’s Summer Day Camp; Preston Center Rotary Club’s youth outreach programs, and the Preston Center Rotary Foundation, which funds many children’s charities. For the past 33 years, Voice of Hope has provided West Dallas children ages 5-14 with strong character models, education support, life skills, and family support services through its Community Center and Summer Day Camps. Last summer, the Grand Prix fundraiser helped send more than 175 children to a camp that enriched their lives and created everlasting memories.

About Voice of Hope

Among several outreach activities in West Dallas, Voice of Hope provides a summer day camp for children ages 5-14 that otherwise would not experience summer camp. Children attending the camp will make memories that will last a lifetime. This safe environment will provide the opportunity to participate in academically enriching activities, arts and crafts, physical activities, music and field trips outside of their neighborhood.  Each child receives a nutritious breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack every day.
